What is the North Lions Football Academy?
Founded in 2020, North Lions Football Academy is a high-performance soccer program dedicated to developing young players through professional coaching, structured training, and competitive experiences both locally and internationally. We offer both advanced and intermediate programs to ensure that every player can progress at the right pace within a professional and supportive environment.
What is the Pre-Academy?
For those who are not familiar with our Pre-Academy programs, players are grouped based on their technical level, physical abilities, and mental readiness rather than strictly by age, following the bio-banding principle.
This approach creates an optimal environment where every player, regardless of their stage of development, can progress in a way that aligns with their individual growth. This method is widely used in Europe, and we have been successfully implementing it in our Pre-Academy for several months. As in previous years, some of our players continue their progression into our Academy teams or within their respective clubs. More advanced players in our Pre-Academy get similar opportunities as the players within the Academy.

Pre-Academy 1 mainly includes U9 to U11 players, who are then divided into smaller subgroups during training activities.

Pre-Academy+ is a slightly more advanced level designed for U11 to U13 players .

Pre-Academy 2 welcomes U8 to U10 players who are still developing their foundational skills.
What is the Academy?
The Academy level is designed for players who have demonstrates advanced technical abilities, tactical understanding, and a high level of commitment to their development. Training sessions follow a structured methodology focused on improving individual and collective performance through advanced drills, positional play, and competitive match experiences. Our Academy teams compete in local, national, and international tournaments to expose players to different styles of play and higher levels of competition. Beyond the field, we emphasize discipline, mindset, and leadership — key qualities for players aspiring to reach the elite level.
How does North Lions Football Academy assign players to its different programs?
At North Lions Football Academy, player placement is based on evaluation of individual ability and game understanding. Each player is evaluated through technical, tactical, physical, and mental criteria by our coaching staff.
Following these assessments, players are assigned to the program that best matches their current level and potential for growth compared to other players at disposal.
All our players have evaluations twice a year with a report associated to it to track progression. Each season, we organize 1 or 2 Detection Camps to evaluate our current players with new comers.
